Hunter - Dido

With one light on, in one room,
I know you're up, when I get home.
With one small step, upon the stair,
I know your look, when I get there

If you were a king up there on your throne,
Would you be wise enough to let me go?
For this queen you think you own
Wants to be a hunter again,
I want to see the world alone again
To take a chance on life again...so let me go

The unread book, and painful look,
The TV's on, the sound is down,
One long pause, then you begin,
"Oh look what the cat's brought in"

If you were a king up there on your throne,
Would you be wise enough to let me go?
For this queen you think you own,
Wants to be a hunter again,
I want to see the world alone again
To take a chance on life again...so let me go,
Let me leave

For the crown you've placed upon my head,
Feels too heavy now,
And I don't know what to say to you
But I'll smile anyhow
And all the time I'm thinking, thinking...

I want to be a hunter again,
I want to see the world alone again
To take a chance on life again...so let me go

Song/Lyrics Notes: This song is found on Dido's excellent No Angel album.
What it Means to Me: Restlessness. The author finds her relationship stifling, as her partner is watching over her. His sarcasm, possessiveness. Her urge to break free from a relationship that is clearly unhealthy, stifling her growth as an individual (in Astrology - he is like Saturn? facing her Uranus, with Uranus symbolizing the urge to break free from restriction, to express one's individuality).

Astrological Notes About Dido: Born December 25th, 1971, Dido has a Capricorn Sun and Aries Moon. She has a T-square involving the Sun, Moon, Mars, and Pluto. Her Moon-Pluto opposition is apparent in many of her songs in which there is some obsession with love lost. Her Venus in Aquarius is trine Pluto and sextile Neptune, which, to me, mitigates the T-square somewhat, and softens/spiritualizes (Neptune) the love nature, as expressed eloquently in her song, White Flag, with its devotional, Neptunian themes.
