Pluto in the Houses of the Natal Chart

The following are interpretations of Pluto in the
different houses of the natal chart. Alternate interpretations are offered for
each house position of Pluto.
Pluto in 1st House
*You are an intense person, inclined to be wholeheartedly and passionately
involved in whatever your current interest is. You easily go to extremes and you
make more moderate, easy-going souls feel uncomfortable.
You may have unusual charisma and also be profoundly influenced by powerful,
charismatic figures whom you model yourself after. Learning to use personal
power appropriately is an issue for you. Negatively, you can be manipulative and
obsessed with personal aggrandizement. Positively, you can be a potent force for
change, growth, and healing in the world.
#Your personality often initiates changes along your spiritual path. Thus it
is important for you to consider how you appear to others, as their response is
a key to understanding the transitions in your life. For example, if other
people become agitated or angry each time you make a change, you may be coming
on too strong for the situation, or at least too strong for those individuals.
On the other hand, if your intervention brings calm to difficult situations, you
can figure that you are showing compassion while also handling the situation
itself.
^Pluto's energy in your 1st House brings power issues into your life at an
early age. Whether you were involved in a family situation which was somewhat
overwhelming or if you had experiences which lead to feelings of abandonment,
you've probably learned to distrust others and may even distrust yourself. You
are actually quite aware of what is happening beneath the surface, but you may
not let many people know that you have this awareness. A sensitive person will
be able to tell, and may even support your awareness, unless they have something
to hide. To truly express your personal power, you may first have to do some
work within yourself addressing your issues which stem from guilt, shame or
disappointment. If you allow these negative feelings to hang on, they undermine
your power and confidence. But once you've released yourself, the healing
process itself empowers you to make changes which can be awe-inspiring. You need
to feel that you have control over your own life, and that there is no one who
can take that power from you, but first you have to convince yourself that this
is true through examining your motivations and desires. If these stem from
hopeful, healing feelings, there may be little that can stop you from creating
transformation and regeneration within yourself and the world around you.
Pluto in 2nd House
*You are likely to have a fixation on money, wealth, and material resources. You
may totally renounce material desires and ownership, or become obsessed with
having, owning, and accumulating. Your attitudes towards owning, keeping, and
sharing will undergo major changes in your lifetime, and your fortunes are
likely to run very hot or very cold.
#Issues of self-esteem may push you toward transformations in your life.
Material success can lift you out of material poverty, and it may improve your
sense of self-worth, but it is your understanding of the flow of spiritual
energy that has the biggest impact on your spiritual development in the long
run.
^Pluto's energy in your 2nd House brings control issues into the realm of
personal finances. It is here that you may experience great challenges, and you
may have some extreme experiences learning about the real nature of money and
materiality. You can attract resources through working in fields which involve
transformation, healing and renovation, and may revitalize your own worth by
allowing your needs to be in charge of your own money. You can share but may not
want to share everything. That's okay, as long as you're honest about it!
Pluto in 3rd House
*You have a probing, penetrating mind and are highly analytical and critical in
your thinking. Work that involves research, investigating mysteries or hidden
causes, or deep study and analysis suits you very well.
You are also a convincing speaker, bringing others around to your own point of
view by the intensity of your convictions.
#Your concern for siblings and peers is a strong force for spiritual change.
You may be strongly influenced by what they say and do, and through experience
you learn how your will power engages in the exchange. Thus you find that by
watching and listening, you learn how other people use their power. Then you can
exert your own will more consistently and compassionately.
^The power of your thoughts determines your experience of life. Pluto's
energy in your 3rd House prompts you to transform your thinking. You must learn
to trust your own intelligence, and to develop your mind in such a way that will
allow you to experience an understanding of life at core levels. You ask
questions, although many are never verbalized. They just drive you, like a
relentless taskmaster, to look beneath the surface. You can be overcome by
compulsive thought patterns, and when you do, you can find it difficult to
release yourself from them. These compulsions can be a power drain, especially
if they reach the obsessive level. Take the time to listen to your own thoughts.
Do they offer self-confirming messages or destructive mutterings? Once you find
a way to use your mind to heal your life, you will know the power you've been
seeking.
Pluto in 4th House
*There was much that was hidden or secret in your childhood home, and you
absorbed a sense of shame or a feeling that you need to hide and protect who you
are from others. One of your parents had an especially intense bond to you and
profoundly influenced you, perhaps dominated or controlled you in subtle ways.
Unlocking the secrets of the past, and learning to be intimate and close to
others without controlling or being controlled are issues for you.
#Change comes from deep within your being. The inner voice guides you - and
not always in calm, quiet ways. You tend to act only when you are certain that
you can - or must. Thus you sometimes have stored up enough energy to explode
like a volcano. To be more compassionate, both to yourself and toward others,
you gradually learn to exert your will sooner so that you no longer explode out
of control. Power issues in childhood caused you to develop some strange,
possibly conflicting core beliefs. As you gain personal strength, you are able
to challenge these ideas and resolve them to suit your own needs and desire for
transformation.
^You learned about power from your parents and may have felt that one parent
had a very strong hold on your life. They still may. But all the while, you may
have found yourself resisting their control, or trying to undermine it. You
tested limits. You knew just how far to push without getting the rug pulled from
beneath your feet. Or did you? Now that you have grown to be a woman, you may
have difficulty feeling that your foundation is ever stable enough. You know
deep within yourself that you needed to destroy the unfitting or unfair images
you had of your family, their traditions or their false identities. You may also
feel some guilt that you cannot fully identify. This is the guilt your soul
recalls. It may not be entirely your own. It may be something you felt as early
as the time you spend in your mother's womb. It might be something from another
lifetime that you remember at a cellular level, a feeling that haunts you when
you are alone. Let it go. Find yourself. Step into your power and allow yourself
to be healed. Then, and only then, will you finally feel that you've found home.
Pluto in 5th House
*You have very strong creative forces and whatever you do, you want to do to the
fullest. In love and romance, you get totally, passionately, even obsessively
involved. In other forms of creative release and self-expression, also, you are
very driven and you have a deep need to prove yourself. Your desire for personal
recognition is compelling, and if you do not achieve creative success, you may
try to force your children to fulfill your dreams for you.
#You find the appropriate mechanism for change by engaging wholeheartedly in
creative efforts. When you do this, the act itself impels you toward
transformation. Others may see changes in you before you are fully aware of them
yourself.
^Your creative efforts are an important element in your life. Pluto's energy
in your 5th House drive you to reach into your soul and find your creative
spirit. Then, you must trust yourself enough to exercise this creativity. It
heals you. It is the key to creating life on your own terms. You may also
discover that your approach to children is a key factor in your own self
respect. When you can look at a child and see the wonder, feel the hope and
desire to be a catalyst for his or her own creativity without trying to shape
him or her into the image you want them to be, you're allowing this force to
work positively. But if you see your children as little pieces of clay you can
mold however you wish, you may be sorely disappointed when they destroy your
creation when they reach adolescence or adulthood. Perhaps this struggle results
from your own childhood experience. You've heard about the inner child? Well
your little girl has always been powerful, but she may not know what to do with
that power. It's up to you to show her.
Pluto in 6th House
*You can become obsessed with your health, self-improvement and personal
development. The psychological elements of disease interest you, and you may
endlessly psychoanalyze yourself and others.
Also, you may work compulsively and exhaust yourself through overwork. You can
be a tyrant with co-workers, and it may be easier for you to work in solitude.
#When you are busiest, you are also the most capable of transformation.
Serving others opens you to spiritual development, and working for yourself
positions you on a progressive path. Both are essential to effect positive
change in your life. You develop the capacity for change by using your will to
push through difficult situations in the work environment, or health problems.
^Pluto's energy in your 6th House prompts you to unlock the power you have to
alter and transform your own life through self-improvement. The quality of your
life depends upon the way you handle experiences which may seem to be beyond
your control, like your genetic heritage, or an illness, or the society within
which you live. Taking care of your health through finding the root of real
healing power in your life is one of the most crucial factors you must face.
Completely surrendering control of your life to the will and direction of others
will leave you feeling disconnected to yourself. You can find the right healers,
helpers and supporters, but first you must acknowledge the part you play in
these processes.
Pluto in 7th House
*Emotional intensity, compulsive attraction, and a sense of fate or destiny
characterize your one-to-one relationships. It's as if you simply cannot have
light, superficial relationships; they are inevitably profound, intense
experiences which reveal your depths to you. You may be drawn to powerful,
charismatic, willful people that challenge, thwart, and ultimately evoke your
own power and strengths. Your marriage is likely to be the arena for your
greatest growth.
#Your keen awareness of others is integral to how you make changes. When you
focus on yourself, you can get stuck, but when you focus on significant people
in your life, your energy flows more smoothly. You find the juice of compassion
in the exchange of energy with others. Then you handle changes with greater
equanimity.
^Pluto's energy in your 7th House brings direct power struggles within
cooperative relationships and partnerships. You may resist the idea of a
functional partnership because you do not want to give up control. Or you may
attract a partner who overwhelms you with his power when you do not trust your
own ability to direct your life. You cannot escape power issues. One way or
another, you must realize that you really do have the power to direct your own
life and to reflect your power in a positive sense. Until you finally exercise
that power, you can be caught in an endless game of transforming yourself to fit
your partner's needs or finding that you are never what you want to be. Try
looking in the mirror. The woman looking back at you is important.
Pluto in 8th House
*You are a person of great depth and have a deep interest in the hidden or
darker side of life. Issues and experiences others shun, you are drawn to and
compelled to examine. The use and misuse of personal, social, and political
power intrigues you. Death is also an area you are fascinated with and may
explore in depth. You may have many experiences in which you are forced to burn
your bridges and start over again.
#One change begets another in your life. You see transformation as a way of
life, not an isolated event. Often you feel changes coming long before any
outward signs are visible. You dwell in the underworld of the mind. Without
training you are susceptible to the energies of people around you, and you fall
under their spells easily. With training you can cast your own spells, and
certainly you can use your power to protect yourself. You have tremendous
endurance - your ability to keep going means that you can chart a spiritual path
and make definite progress. You tend to be around when traumatic events happen
to other people, and you may have your own share of difficulties. These
experiences place you in the ideal spot to help others, as you know how they
feel and you know just how to lift their spirits.
^Pluto's energy in your 8th House does not necessarily attract excessive
power struggles with your partner, but you certainly will be alert to that
possibility! You may have a very keen sense concerning your own sexuality, and
exploring the depths of your sexual needs can allow your power to emerge more
fully. In financial matters, whether or not there are problems largely depends
upon your ability to be honest with yourself and your partner about what you
need and expect in this arena. You can be an excellent money manager, and with a
partner whose vision and values support your own, can create a strong power
base. But if you feel threatened by your partner or the way he uses his
resources, you're probably better off completely extracting your resources from
his until you are clear about your mutual goals.
Pluto in 9th House
*You have strong philosophical views and there are times in your life when you
passionately crusade for a cause that you deem noble and of utmost importance.
Although your intentions are good, you are not as objective as you think you
are, and your views are more colored by personal experiences and concerns than
you realize. Nevertheless, you can also be instrumental in bringing about
positive change if you can avoid being dogmatic. Also, you may radically change
or revise your own personal beliefs, even your most cherished convictions, many
times during your life.
#As you pursue your transcendent values, you will find that death has no hold
on you. You take the shaman's path by going through the darkness. You may feel
that you have succumbed to sexual seduction in the past, but don't beat yourself
up over that. Sexual energy is a source of powerful devotion and motivation. As
you gain understanding of the values that matter most to you, you will find that
ecstasy, while beginning in a sexual expression, actually reaches spiritual
heights that erase the barriers of the body. As a shaman you are able to lift
others out of their physical death experiences into the healing light you
understand as Spirit. You sense the power of transcendence in yourself and
others. You move from learning about transformation within yourself to healing
and helping others who must experience rapid, dramatic changes.
^You learn about power through your spiritual and religious teaching with
Pluto in the 9th House. Your need to connect to the Power of the Universal Mind
is behind many of your deepest aspirations. You will be dissatisfied if you give
your spiritual power to another human being. It belongs to you and to the
direction of the Teacher within your higher consciousness. But it's tempting to
hold onto religious ideals with a fervent dedication which is almost impossible
to release. By separating your emotional attachment to your beliefs from the
truth of your spiritual awareness, you will become empowered at the highest
level.
Pluto in 10th House
*You have a powerful sense of destiny and may be unusually, even ruthlessly,
ambitious. There is a very driven, compulsive quality to the way you pursue your
career or other important life goals, which is likely to win you both staunch
admirers and vigorous opponents.
There is a very "radical" side to you, and you may want to remake or change the
world in some significant way. Depending on other astrological factors in your
chart and your own decisions, you can be either very destructive or a powerful
force for healing and positive change in the world.
#Change begins for you when you first feel the tug of ambition - you want
something more or better. As you deal with transformation, your goal-oriented
behavior becomes spiritual aspiration rather than simple material seeking.
^With Pluto in your 10th House achieving a sense of power can definitely be
among your ambitions. This can be a highly creative position for Pluto, since
exercising your ability to bring about transformational change and healing
through your career path can be quite a challenge. Even if you decide not to
follow a career path, you can still be a powerful force in your family and may
even play an influential matriarchal role as you mature. However, you're likely
to run into power issues with others too, since as you become more adept at
moving through the chain of command your presence and strength can attract power
struggles with others. This is not the only option, since you may also find that
you enjoy rubbing shoulders with the movers and shakers. After all, that's where
you belong! But before you can achieve the levels of success you deeply desire,
you may have to address buried resentments, guilt or shame which have their
origins in your past. In essence, you can become a vessel for regeneration and
healing, and your own wounds may be the keys to your power to influence change
in the lives of others.
Pluto in 11th House
*You may have a deep aversion to groups, associations, clubs, or organizations
of any kind. Any such group you become involved in is likely to be either for
intense personal growth, change, and healing, or centered around social change
and revising society in some manner.
#Circumstances impel you to change, ready or not. Sometimes you feel you must
listen to a lot of other people's dreams and follow them. It is important to
weigh their urgings against the inner voice of your own desire.
^With Pluto in your 11th House, you may meet many of your power issues within
the social sphere, particularly around special interest groups or when dealing
with political processes. You're not the women who enjoys sitting on the
sidelines if you're part of a group, especially if something could be done more
effectively. If you have not developed a strong sense of your own ideals and
beliefs you can fall under the influence of others who would usurp your power in
order to boost their own. But once you've awakened to your own ideals, drives
and directives, you can be a highly influential leader and instigator of social
change. The extent of your efforts depends upon you and the choices you make for
yourself.
Pluto in 12th House
*You have a deep interest in secrets, the underworld or unconscious, and
anything hidden and mysterious. Psychoanalysis, investigating your dreams, and
other methods of uncovering secrets are very interesting to you. You may be
exceptionally perceptive intuitively or psychically. Your emotions and
subconscious energies are complex, and periodic transformations and personal
crises are sprinkled liberally throughout your lifetime.
#Death has played a large part in creating doubt about your abilities. Use
private time to examine your present knowledge and skills, and you may find that
confidence replaces doubt. You need the quiet moments to build your power.
^Since you have Pluto in your 12th House you may be tempted to repress your
emotions, particularly those which have to do with those deep needs which spring
from the shadowy side of yourself. You may even have problems with depression or
addictive behaviors which create a kind of emotional trap until you learn to
delve into the depths of your being and clean out the ghosts and dragons from
your past which still haunt your dreams. Old resentments can also act like a
potion which poisons your imagination and undermines your ability to trust your
inner self. Once you've conquered your own demons, you may feel driven to help
others confront their own, and can become an extremely effective healer.
