A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse occurs on Tuesday, April 15th, 2014, at 3:43 AM EDT.

Tuesday morning, a Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Aries opposes the Moon in Libra. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time - a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships. This Full Moon is especially potent, as it is total Lunar Eclipse. Lunar eclipses are relationship-oriented. The "crisis" that these eclipses tend to elicit is a crisis of lack - a time when we suddenly recognize a great need or want. The impact of the crisis can act to sever a relationship - it's possible. But it can also bring two people together with a sudden awareness of a great need for each other. Although Lunar eclipses are more relationship-oriented than Solar eclipses, they are not always about relationships between two people. They can trigger awareness of need in other areas of our lives, such as our relationship to work, to our health and bodies, and so forth. This is a time when matters come to light -things that have been brewing under the surface.

The Aries-Libra polarity is a relationship axis, where Aries represents "self" and Libra represents "other". Where Aries is about self-assertion, Libra is about compromise. The energy of the Libra Moon is the awareness of the need for relationships and all that comes with maintaining them -- compromising, negotiating, graciousness, and balancing. The Aries Sun, on the other hand, is self-assertive, leading, and personally courageous. This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between meeting our personal needs and tending to the needs of a significant other, and between independence or autonomy and dependence or companionability.

The Libra Moon is diplomatic, equality-minded, and fair-minded. The Aries Sun, however, values authenticity over tact, and is energized by independent efforts. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict.

Eclipses are tied to changing circumstances. However, we are usually the ones to precipitate or to attract changes because our "inner guides" know that we need it. Human beings are progressive by nature, and although we might stay in situations that are making us miserable for longer than we should, deep down inside we know that change is necessary for growth.

With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic "illumination" occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as emotions burst forth into our consciousness. It's time to express ourselves, and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is new and not particularly rational as yet. Full Moons are about exposing or illuminating issues that are already there, but that have not yet been dealt with. Read more about this Lunar Eclipse here.

This phase of the Moon occurs at 25 degrees and 16 minutes of Libra opposing the Sun at 25 degrees and 16 minutes of Aries, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 20 to 30 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.

(Times are Eastern)

The Sun is in Aries; Mercury is in Aries; Venus is in Pisces; Mars is in Libra.

The Sun is in Aries from March 20-April 19/20. In Aries, the Sun is enthusiastic and spontaneous. We are motivated by the desire to conquer. We are more impulsive, and have the urge to initiate. Aries is a sign that bounces back quickly--there is little shame with Aries. It is brave and pioneering, and somewhat innocent. We are direct and rather uncomplicated in our needs, but we can also be short-sighted and lack the desire to plan ahead.

The Sun is in Taurus from April 19/20-May 20. In Taurus, the Sun is methodical, sensual, and receptive. The Sun in Taurus is most active when it is defending or resisting things! As the Sun moves through Taurus when plants take root, our determination and security needs are strong. Taurus is loyal to all that is familiar, and values longevity. The shadow side of Taurus is possessiveness and bullheadedness.

Mercury is in Aries April 7-23. When Mercury is in Aries, we are less concerned with objective viewpoints and explanations, and more concerned with reaching a decision...quickly! Our thoughts and ideas are pioneering, and we tend to speak more spontaneously and directly with the planet of communication in bold and assertive Aries.

Venus is in Pisces April 5-May 2. Pisces never sees the world in black-and-white terms. Rather, Pisces sees all the colors of the rainbow. With the goddess of love in Pisces, our love is all-embracing, we are able to forgive and understand, we are seducible and seductive, and we show compassion to our partners. Venus in Pisces is tender and affectionate, although hard to reach nevertheless, as there is a longing for something that is hard to define and hard to satisfy. Borders and boundaries blur under Venus in Pisces. The shadow side of this position is allowing ourselves to be victimized or deluded, as well as evasiveness.

Mars is in Libra from December 7-July 25, 2014. We tend to use our charm as a means to an end under the influence of this cycle. Because we can see many different sides to an issue, we can be vacillating and indecisive about how to act. We don't want to be the "bad guy", and rarely resort to force. Instead, we attempt to win arguments with style. We are indirect in approach and inclined towards engaging in mental debates, yet we also attempt to make the opposition comfortable! Passive-aggressiveness is the shadow side of this energy.

Saturn entered Scorpio on October 5, 2012 and will transit the sign until 2015. Read about Saturn's transit through Scorpio here.

Jupiter is in Cancer from June 25th, 2013, to July 16, 2014. Read about Jupiter's transit through Cancer here.

Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.

Mars is Retrograde in the sign of Libra from March 1 to May 19, 2014.

Romance & Relationships

Venus is in Pisces from April 5-May 2. Like Aquarius, Pisces love is universal. However, Pisces draws no bounds in love. With Venus in Pisces, we have compassion (and perhaps attraction) for those who are left out, overlooked, or victimized. We are self-sacrificing, and we have a hard time setting up borders. The walls go down, we have a hard time saying no (especially if our compassion is engaged), but we are also prone to avoiding all that makes us feel uncomfortable. Wishful thinking is one expression of Venus in Pisces. We can too easily believe what we want to believe. People can be hard to pin down, and love is hard to define under this influence.

This week: Thursday and Friday, Venus forms very pleasing aspects. Venus is in good form in the sign of Pisces, and with its trine to lucky Jupiter, opens our hearts and minds. This influence strongly stimulates our desire for the ideal, and our tolerance for rudeness or crassness decreases. This aspect helps to both soften and strengthen us in an otherwise temperamental month. Expansive feelings in love, and a feeling that anything is possible if we set our sights high enough, are experienced now. We are friendly, big-hearted, sociable, and optimistic. There can be increased cheerfulness, trust, and confidence in love and social matters. As well, Venus harmonizes with Pluto, increasing intensity, but in a pleasing manner. Intimacy can thrive under this influence.

Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:

Venus in Pisces April 5-May 2. A martyr complex, a love for the underdog, a search for your soul mate: such are the experiences associated with the new cycle you're now just beginning. A yen for soul-stirring romance, a weakness for the weak, and a tendency to idealize people and relationships ... very aesthetic, very other-worldly.
Venus parallel Neptune April 9-11. Heightened sensitivity to, and awareness of, beauty and spirituality. We are easily influenced, seducible and seductive, and given to strong powers of imagination. We are more attuned to the world of beauty and romance. Gentleness with others is the best way to harness this energy. A "magical" time on a romantic and social level, but it could also be a confusing or illusory influence as well. Psychic openness and compassion.
Venus conjunct Neptune April 11. New and fresh beginnings on romantic levels characterize this transit.
Venus trine Jupiter April 17. Harmony and good will reign under this influence. Expansive feelings in love, and a feeling that anything is possible if we set our sights high enough, are experienced now. We are friendly, big-hearted, sociable, and optimistic. It is easy to make social contacts under this influence. Cheerfulness, trust, and confidence in love and social matters.
Venus sextile Pluto April 17-18. Subtly powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions.
Venus quincunx Mars April 19. When we attempt to be friendly, we seem to miss the mark. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging. Our romantic sensibilities and our desires are at odds with one another, and problems (especially misunderstandings)  in romantic and sexual relationships may result. This is a less-than-ideal transit under which to begin a new relationship.
Venus conjunct Chiron April 20. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.

The Moon & Timing

The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here, and is indicative of the "outcome" of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period, or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology). Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology.

The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:

Void-of-course Moon on Saturday, April 12th, from 1:12 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Saturn), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Sunday, April 13th, at 4:34 AM EDT.

VOC Moon on Tuesday, April 15th, from 3:43 AM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to the Sun), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 12:21 PM EDT.

VOC Moon on Thursday, April 17th, from 3:10 AM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Saturn), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 5:44 PM EDT.

VOC Moon on Saturday, April 19th, from 9:18 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to the Sun), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 9:29 PM EDT.

This Week's Calendar

MercurysquareJupiter Mercury square Jupiter. Information overload is possible today. It is all too easy to miss or neglect important details. We may exaggerate, have a hard time putting our ideas to practical use, or overstate under this influence. This is an unfavorable transit for travel. Our ideas and plans may be too grandiose just now. We could have a hard time convincing others of our point of view, and we could too easily jump to conclusions. There could be a lot of talk about nothing. Lack of clear mental focus, but we may make measurable progress if we can concentrate.

Mercuryconjunct Mercury conjunct Uranus. The ability to grasp intellectual concepts is high right now. Our intuition is spot-on, and we tend to have the right idea at the right moment. The senses may be overloaded, to the point that we are scatter-brained, impulsive, nervous, or impatient. If channeled well, however, our ideas are inventive, original, progressive, and unbiased.

MercurysquarePluto Mercury square Pluto. The tendency to read between the lines with a negative slant is strong during this transit, and can easily stir up trouble. Suspiciousness, making mountains out of molehills, telling others only what we want them to know are possible themes. Mental anxiety or troubles could manifest now. We should try to avoid forcing our ideas on others and strive to maintain an open mind. Compulsive thinking is possible. On the other hand, this influence can suggest the ability to engage in deep, penetrating communication.

Venussemi-squareSun Venus semi-square Sun. Irritations that seem to stem from others could be the reflection of our own inner uneasiness. Do your best to control yearnings for more and search for a creative solution for your inner dissatisfaction.

MercuryoppositionMars Mercury opposition Mars. We may be quick on the trigger when it comes to verbal reactions to others, and we may seriously lack diplomacy at this time. People may do the opposite of what they are told or what they think is best! This is not the best time to take a trip. However, this transit stimulates the desire to work and to produce.

QuincunxChiron Mars quincunx Chiron. We might doubt the effectiveness of our efforts to go after what we want under this influence, which can lead to passive-aggressive behavior, defensiveness, or frustration.

trine Venus trine Jupiter. Friendliness and optimism characterize this transit. We are big-hearted and our feelings are expansive. The outlook is cheerful and hopeful and the atmosphere is cooperative. This is a sociable, perhaps lazy and self-indulgent, time. We easily find meaning in our social connections. We are more open and trusting of friends and lovers. Integrity and loyalty are favored. A favorable influence for winning people's trust. Speculation, advertising, publishing, and travel are favored.

VenussextilePluto Venus sextile Pluto. If we seize the opportunity, this is a good time for both finances and relationships. The feelings are impassioned, but not in an offensive or unpleasant way. We are focused and confident, and we appreciate depth of feeling and authenticity in our dealings with others.

MercuryquincunxSaturn Mercury quincunx Saturn. Communication challenges today make it hard to get a point across. Delays, "red tape", and vague feelings of forgetting important details.

Mercurysemi-squareNeptune Mercury semi-square Neptune. We are not thinking clearly, preferring to daydream. Technical facts can be glossed over at this time. It's not a good time to make a presentation, to ask for what you want, or to formalize agreements.

VenusQuincunxMars Venus quincunx Mars. When we try to be friendly, we seem to miss the mark. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging. Our romantic sensibilities and our desires are at odds with one another, and problems (especially misunderstandings)  in romantic and sexual relationships may result.

What's In Store By the Stars - Daily Astrology Trends

(as featured on our site's main page and in our Daily Trends Calendar)

April 13
The Moon finishes its transit of Virgo at 4:34 AM EDT, when it enters Libra. Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment, with the Moon in Libra. However, Mars contraparallel Uranus today suggests some erratic elements and rebelliousness, particularly in our relationships. There can be a strong desire to force change. Buried desires can surface now.

The Moon ends its void period when it enters Libra at 4:34 AM EDT.

April 14
Mercury forms a T-square with Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto today, and we require more breathing room to explore, get creative, and think inventively and independently. We might too easily jump to conclusions, however, and our senses may be overloaded to the point that we are scatter-brained, impulsive, nervous, or impatient. Mental anxiety or troubles could manifest now. We should try to avoid forcing our ideas on others. Pluto is stationary as it turns retrograde this afternoon. Pluto's intense and complex energy hangs heavy in the air under this influence. Over the coming months (Pluto is retrograde until September 22nd), we may be reassessing how we use our power. As well, a Lunar Eclipse will occur early into the day tomorrow, and emotions run especially high.

April 15
A total Lunar Eclipse occurs early today, with the Sun in Aries opposing the Moon in Libra at 3:43 AM EDT. This is an emotional time - a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships. The "crisis" that a Lunar eclipse tends to elicit is a crisis of lack - a time when we suddenly recognize a great need or want. This is a time when matters come to light - things that have been brewing under the surface. This eclipse urges us to strike a balance between meeting our personal needs and tending to the needs of a significant other, and between independence or autonomy and dependence or companionability. Eclipses are tied to changing circumstances. However, we are usually the ones to precipitate or to attract changes because our "inner guides" know that we need them. The Moon leaves Libra at 12:21 PM EDT, and enters Scorpio. Later today, Venus semi-squares the Sun. Irritations that seem to stem from the outside could be reflections of our own inner uneasiness. We can be especially sensitive to imbalances in our environment and relationships.

A void of course Moon occurs from 3:43 AM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to the Sun), until the Moon enters Scorpio at 12:21 PM EDT.

April 16
Mercury opposes Mars this morning, and we can be quick on the trigger when it comes to verbal reactions to others. People may do the opposite of what they are told or what they think is best! We can feel pressured to get things done quickly, and the pace is hectic. We can be agitated, competitive, and argumentative, talking over others. Midday, Mars quincunxes Chiron, and there can be some defensiveness or passive-aggressive behavior, as we don't clearly see a direct route to satisfying our desires, if we are even clear about what they are. Pressures tend to ease as the day progresses. The Moon is in Scorpio all day.

April 17
The Moon is in Scorpio until 5:44 PM EDT, when it enters Sagittarius. The Moon's move to forward-looking Sagittarius and then a happy connection between Venus and Jupiter can lift our spirits. Our hearts and minds open. Venus-Jupiter strongly stimulates our desire for the ideal. Our tolerance for
rudeness or crassness decreases. This aspect helps to both soften and strengthen us in an otherwise temperamental month. Venus is moving towards a sextile to Pluto, exact early tomorrow, deepening our affections. Under this influence, we are learning to trust.

A void of course Moon occurs from 3:10 AM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Saturn), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 5:44 PM EDT.

April 18
Venus sextiles Pluto this morning, and we stand to gain in our relationships, as well as financially, by employing more strategy and exercising patience. We appreciate depth of feeling and authenticity in our dealings with others. The Moon is in Sagittarius all day, however, and are attracted to new situations of conquest or adventure, and require less prompting than usual to "get moving" and to experience life under the influence of a Sagittarius Moon. Emotionally bored with the mundane, anything that breaks the routine is appealing now. A change of scenery is in order today. We take a philosophical attitude to problems or challenges in our lives. Some lack of clarity is likely later today, as Mercury moves towards slightly challenging aspects with Saturn and Neptune.

April 19
Mercury is quincunx Saturn and semi-square Neptune early today. Communication challenges can make it difficult to get a point across. Delays, "red tape", and vague feelings of forgetting important details are possible now. Venus is quincunx Mars late morning, pointing to some awkward social situations. Our sensibilities and our desires are at odds with one another, and problems (especially misunderstandings) in relationships may result. Timing is off. The Moon is in Sagittarius until 9:29 PM EDT, when it enters Capricorn. The Sun moves into the sign of Taurus at the end of the day, 11:56 PM, where it will transit until May 20th.

A void of course Moon occurs from 9:18 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to the Sun), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 9:29 PM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:

When the Moon is in Virgo

MoonVirgoWe instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.

The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.

When the Moon is in Libra

MoonLibraCreating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.

The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.

When the Moon is in Scorpio

MoonScorpioIntensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.

The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.

When the Moon is in Sagittarius

MoonSagittariusThe Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".

The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.

When the Moon is in Capricorn

MoonCapricornrWe become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.

The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.

When the Moon is in...Transits of the Moon through the Signs.

This Week's Planetary Positions By Sign (General Trends):

Sun in Aries A new sense of self, a more assertive personal style, a more dynamic approach to life: these are the hallmarks of the cycle that begins for you now. Doubts fade into the background, and reserve is more and more a thing of the past. It's time for action; your destiny is in your hands, rather than set apart. Full speed ahead ("and damn the torpedoes") is your motto now, for better or for worse!

Mercury in Aries New ideas and an independent or pioneering mental orientation take on more importance in your life at this time. Teaching, learning, communicating, and social contact have a way of outlining new directions in your life now, and there is much activity and involvement with these kinds of issues.

Venus in Pisces A martyr complex, a love for the underdog, a search for your soul mate: such are the experiences associated with the new cycle you're now just beginning. A yen for soul-stirring romance, a weakness for the weak, and a tendency to idealize people and relationships ... very aesthetic, very other-worldly.

Mars in Libra "I'm giving you a definite maybe" - that's the motto of the cycle you're now entering. It's a time of refinement and tact, of an urge to please others that is so strong as to make it hard to decide or act for fear of offending someone. You'll quickly learn to balance this out, or you'll discover that there is no peace in compromise - and this can be tough on close relationships. The trick is to find the win-win solution to the no-win situation - and if anyone's ever up to it, you are now.

Jupiter in Cancer Taking care of yourself and all that's yours becomes a high priority in your life now. Security, setting down roots, establishing your ties with the past: these things are among the articles of faith that guide you. This is often a sign of growth in all things connected with family and property (such as real estate).

Saturn in Scorpio This new cycle signals a need to recognize that there are powers beyond your control, that things are not what they seem on the surface. Trying to stay in control and on top only sets you up for a fall. There is a need for the resources of others. Failure to recognize this and deal with it can stop you in your tracks.

Uranus in Aries
A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart.

Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver's seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?

Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable - and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small, but has bigger consequences than you'd think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place...
