The Third Quarter MOON occurs on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, at 10:48 AM EST.
The Last Quarter Moon is exact when the Sun in Capricorn forms a square with the Moon in Libra on Saturday morning.
The Last Quarter Moon phase points to a mini-crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t. This is in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again.
This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes descent into unconsciousness. Still, we have a more mature grasp of our situation. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon.
We might ponder the revelations we may have had last week, considering what they mean to us and what we might do about them.
The Last Quarter Moon Chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 20 degrees and 25 minutes of Libra square the Sun at the same degree of Capricorn, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 18 to 22 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.

Full Moon
The Full MOON occurs on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at 5:03 AM EST.
On Saturday afternoon, a Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Capricorn forms an opposition to the Moon in Cancer. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Cancer-Capricorn polarity deals with the balance between the private life, domesticity, the need for a home base, and nurturance (represented by Cancer) versus the public life, career, reputation, and accountability (represented by Capricorn).
Attachments and love are ruled by Cancer, while achievements and rewards/punishments are ruled by Capricorn. In some ways, this polarity deals with the balance between unconditional love and conditional love. The Cancer Moon encourages us to value our home base and our roots, while Capricorn persuades us to consider our sense of duty and responsibility along public lines.
While Cancer may most enjoy attaching to the home and family, Capricorn urges us to attend to the responsibilities to the outside world. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do.
This Full Moon is about balancing our commitment to our career and families. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.

This phase of the Moon occurs at 13 degrees and 2 minutes of Cancer opposite the Sun at the same degree of Capricorn, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 9 to 17 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.
Something is exposed or illuminated, prompting us to get in touch with those things in our personal lives that we may have been neglecting or putting off. With so much attention to our relationships, careers, and personal plans these days, a push for considering our emotional needs occurs now.
This is a time to clear up past patterns that have been holding us back from personal fulfillment, particularly those that are home or family-centered or that revolve around our work-home balance and attitudes toward comfort and responsibility.
The Sun closely aligns with Venus and Mars at the time of this Wolf Moon, and this lunation harmonizes with the Moon’s nodes. We can feel a wonderful spark of creativity and progress now. Our revelations are pivotal and growth-oriented. Relating and creating can be motivators as we set our goals and intentions. We feel very personally involved and want to put ourselves fully into the experience. It can also be a time to make notable connections and strong memories.

This week: The Sun is in Capricorn; Mercury is in Capricorn; Venus is in Capricorn; Mars is in Capricorn.
The Sun is in Capricorn from December 21, 2025-January 19, 2026. While the Sun is in Capricorn, we are motivated by feelings of responsibility, ambition, and respect for law and order. Capricorn derives much satisfaction in completion and accomplishment. Standards, structures, and an appreciation for order are Capricorn themes.
Capricorn wants tangible results, knows what is feasible and what is not, and is most comfortable working within an established framework and known boundaries or limits. Working towards a long-term goal is most satisfying with this influence.
We take a conservative approach to most matters during this month-long transit. Taking risks or making impulsive moves doesn’t suit us. We move ahead gradually but steadily and prosper by playing the long game–patiently working toward our objectives and taking care of our future. It’s a time when we expect eventual success by embracing step-by-step methods.
Mercury is in Capricorn from January 1-20, 2026. When Mercury is in Capricorn, our thinking is methodical and our focus is sober and practical. It is easier to concentrate on the task at hand under this influence. Our conversations may be quite realistic or focused on business/practical matters. Our thought patterns and communication styles become more logical, orderly, and organized.
We are more able to sort out what is relevant and essential. Realism enters the picture, our speech is no-nonsense, and precision becomes important to us. Our survival instincts are strong–we’re interested in what will benefit us in the long term.
We’re not interested in the fluff, preferring to get right to a point or the bottom line. Communication can be somewhat guarded or cautious, and similarly not very floral or expressive. We gravitate to concrete subjects and information that’s logical, useful, and well-organized. We may prefer a methodical approach to studying. Our fantasies may be well-considered and possible, with realistic overtones.
We need to be wary of becoming too rigid in our thinking. We may come across as cold or harsh. For some, there is a fine line between realism and pessimism. At times, we might lack humor, or we’re inclined toward sarcasm when joking. We can be quite stubborn with our ideas and methods.
We can use this period to make solid, realistic plans and get organized. It’s a favorable time to advise, teach, or guide. Generally, we’re more concerned than usual with our reputation or responsibilities. Our dependability can reap rewards. We love to plan ahead and map out our next steps. Changes of schedule can be most disconcerting during this cycle.
Our reactions are sensible, cool, and level-headed while Mercury is in Capricorn.
Venus is in Capricorn from December 24, 2025-January 17, 2026. Getting serious about our finances and boosting our relations with business partners and/or co-workers will be easier than usual under this influence. Our talents for creating artistic structure and form are enhanced, and our ability to form connections with people who support our ambitions increases.
We value enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We take expressing our feelings seriously, and we take our time to warm up to others. We generally keep our “cool” in relationships. We’re steadfast and seek genuine, perhaps old-fashioned connections. It’s not a time for PDA, and we can be somewhat guarded and reserved with expressing our feelings or revealing our relationships.
The underdog who works hard can have their time in the sun now. We value slow and steady effort and long-term prospects. Reliability in others is most attractive.
This cycle favors getting along well with higher-ups, conservative business goals and ventures, long-term investments, and matters related to pension.
Mars is in Capricorn from December 15, 2025-January 23, 2026. Mars in Capricorn is deliberate, persistent energy. We consider the future and the consequences before taking action during this cycle. Our energy is reliable, careful, reserved, and faithful. We are slow to anger but can be quite cold and irritable if frustrated.
Skepticism and realism are themes. We are thorough and precise. Orderliness, discipline, self-reliance, and planning well can be in focus. We dislike waste, sloppiness, and excess. Our ambitions are clear, and our actions are measured and careful. We need to feel that we’re in control and on top of things. The shadow side of Mars in Capricorn is rigidity, negativity, or dryness.
Jupiter is in Cancer.

Uranus has returned to Taurus.
Uranus is in Gemini from July 7th to November 7th, 2025, from April 25, 2026, to August 3, 2032, and then from December 12, 2032, to May 22, 2033. Read about Uranus in Gemini in its calendar page.
Uranus has more work to do in the sign of Taurus from November 7th, 2025, to April 25th, 2026. Uranus began in Taurus in 2018/2019. During this cycle, we approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.

Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Capricorn from December 24, 2025-January 17, 2026. Venus in Capricorn is a cycle in which security and stability in our relationships are paramount.
We are more cautious with our emotions and somewhat skeptical of both our own feelings and others’ expressions of affection. Longevity is important to us under this influence.
There is a formality to Capricorn that can make personal expressions seem awkward and forced. However, this cycle offers us the opportunity to consider some of the practical issues of our relations and to work on making our partnerships work in the real world.
A dose of realism in our personal lives can help us to feel more grounded and secure in the long run.
This week: There’s pleasant intensity and a strong desire to connect deeply on Monday and Tuesday, the 5th and the 6th. We care a lot to harmonize, putting our pride in how accommodating or compromising we can be. It’s a time of general cooperation and agreeableness. We’re inclined to start fresh in our relationships. There can be more graciousness, diplomacy, and charm expressed now. We’re proud of our ability to get along with others.
On Wednesday, there can be much excitement, drama, and impulsiveness. In our relationships, things seem to need to be exciting and spicy to hold our interest. We’re motivated to make something special, connect, create, and mingle.
Thursday and Friday bring some immoderation. We may go overboard as we seek more meaning or new horizons. Watch for overcommitting or overstating. We’re easily bored with anything mundane or normal, and as a result, we’re inclined to dramatize our lives. We’re hungry for more, but possibly insatiable, in the love department. It’s possible that we overstate our feelings if we temporarily overvalue someone, or we face challenges in our relationships due to high expectations.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Capricorn Marry for money and then learn to love ’em: that’s what your heart tells you now, as a new cycle gets underway in your life. Does that sound cynical? Maybe so – but it does reflect the yearning you feel for security and stability now, and it suggests the kind of compromises you may be willing to make to accomplish these objectives.
Venus parallel Mercury December 29. A congenial time when we appreciate diplomacy and socialize more readily.
Venus sextile North Node of the Moon January 1. There is a stronger desire to connect to and belong with others at this time. We are more obliging and sociable.
Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus January 3. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness. A desire to experiment in the romance department may be fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying or frustrating.
Venus parallel Pluto January 5-6. The desire for drama and intensity in relationships is with us. Love feelings and relationship issues can be all-consuming now, assuming more importance in our lives than usual. Interactions with others are intense now, and themes of sharing and trust dominate in relationships.
Venus conjunct the Sun January 5-6. Good relating is the focus, although some may find this energy superficial in that surface charm, diplomacy, and harmony is the goal. The pursuit of pleasure is emphasized.
Venus conjunct Mars January 7. This is a passionate, warm, expressive, lively and sexy energy. We are now able to take the initiative to achieve harmony and sexual fulfillment. This influence brings satisfaction to the feelings. Our creativity and desire to make something beautiful is stimulated now. We are more able to combine warmth with energy. Social relations are impassioned, and perhaps demanding or extreme. In some cases this impulsive energy generates “love at first sight” scenarios or erotic interludes. Team work is more successful now. Some level of competition is present in our interactions, but it’s likely of a pleasurable and gently challenging kind. Impulsive purchases are possible.
Venus opposition Jupiter January 8-9. We are easily bored with the everyday responsibilities and routines of our love lives, and are now inclined to dramatize our lives. As a result, our love natures are strong, but insatiable. We may overstate our feelings as we temporarily overvalue someone; or we face challenges in our relationships due to overblown expectations. We are itching for adventure and fun, but the wisest course of action is to avoid ignoring our responsibilities (and reality) in our efforts towards self-gratification.
Venus square Chiron January 11. Not a commitment-friendly transit. We are somewhat fearful of investing ourselves emotionally in a relationship.
Venus contra-parallel Jupiter January 12. We’re optimistic and ready to take a chance or give someone or something the benefit of the doubt. We are able to make the best of a situation now. Watch for overextension. It’s best not to overstate or make big promises based only on the good mood of the moment.
Venus sextile Saturn January 14-15. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism in existing partnerships. Relationships begun under this influence possess a distinctly practical theme, almost as if the partnership is a business endeavor.
Venus trine Uranus January 14-15. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time, and we happily embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.

This Week’s Aspects
Venus conjunct Sun. We are motivated by the desire to strike a balance in our relationships and in our environment. Smooth negotiations with others. Graciousness, diplomacy, charm, and some superficiality. This is a good period for social affairs, pleasure, amusement, and romance, all things considered.
Venus conjunct Mars. We’re ready to take the initiative to achieve harmony and sexual fulfillment. Social relations are impassioned and perhaps demanding or extreme. We may also feel compelled to do something creative or artistic. This impulsive energy can generate feelings of “love at first sight” or lead to erotic interludes, sudden purchases, and impulsive pleasure-seeking. It’s a time to balance and integrate yin and yang energies within ourselves. We get the chance to express our needs, passions, and desires effectively. Venus is diplomatic, gentle, romantic, and sensitive, while Mars is more direct, carnal, and assertive. Venus can soften Mars’ aggressiveness, or Mars can make Venus’ romantic impulses more forceful and pressing. Teamwork is more successful now. Some level of competition is present in our interactions, but it’s likely of a pleasurable and gently challenging kind.
Sun conjunct Mars. This is a vital, dynamic time when we thrive on progress and activity. Our more passionate, aggressive, and courageous natures come to the fore. We are able to creatively solve problems and to instinctively take action when necessary under this influence. Self-assertion is what this transit is about. We are direct and frank, and perhaps short-tempered and impulsive.
Venus opposition Jupiter. The love nature is strong, but given to extremes. Over-inflated expectations and the tendency to overstate our affections are things to watch out for. We may overvalue something (or someone), perhaps in order to add more drama to our lives, or to feel bigger than life. We are sociable, in the mood to party, dramatic, extravagant, and inclined to overindulge as a result of this inner discontent and desire for more from life than daily routines.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Uranus. We can have flashes of insight, but tend to be scatterbrained. Our ideas and communications may not be well-received because they don’t seem to others to carry weight. Our minds are not peaceful or harmonious under this influence, and irritable tempers, sarcastic speech, and dogmatism are negative expressions of this energy. However, fresh and creative ideas may come to us now.
Sun opposition Jupiter. Conflicting urges with regards to what we think we should do and what we want to do can be frustrating now. There can be a tendency to go overboard and to indulge in extravagances. Watch for overestimating your capabilities now. Culminations or surprising changes in a project or ambition might occur now. The urge to grow and expand is strong, but we might overreach.
Mars opposition Jupiter. Over-estimating what we are capable of doing characterizes this transit. What we want to do may conflict with what is actually possible. We may get fired up over opposing viewpoints, and we may need to adjust our plan of action. Errors in judgment made now are likely due to impulsiveness and the overlooking of crucial details.

JANUARY 4
With a creative aspect between Mercury and Uranus this morning, we prefer not to follow the crowd with our ideas and communications. We seek to stand out as different intellectually, or at least not sound like everyone else. This aspect inspires creative ways to approach technical matters.
As the day advances, both the Sun and Venus form quintiles with Saturn, bringing a responsible theme to the day. It’s a time to sort, categorize, and create order. There can be a willingness to make sacrifices if it seems the best way to make improvements. We’re inclined to maneuver and plan tastefully. We may be showcasing our reliability and loyalty. A Saturn-Vesta sextile is also in play today, and we feel good about our work, obligations, and commitments, which we see less as burdens and more as purposeful activities. Independent work is favored. With this transit, we are more disciplined and efficient than usual.

JANUARY 5
The Moon is in Leo all day, stirring our need to play, express ourselves, and create. We’re enthusiastic and take particular pride in our accomplishments. This Moon encourages our theatrical, playful, and competitive side. The Moon trine to Chiron tonight promotes healing and reconciliation. Because we’re not inclined to worry over details or rely too heavily on rationale, it’s easier to see the bigger picture. A Venus-Pluto parallel strongly influences the day as it advances, and we naturally connect with our deeper desires. We can be incredibly focused on pursuing our interests, especially in business and finance, or in love and partnership now. We seek more depth in our pursuits and connections.
JANUARY 6
Venus aligns with the Sun today, heralding a time to reach out, make connections, and initiate fresh starts in our relationships. This alignment symbolizes the potential for new beginnings and positive transformations in our interpersonal connections. On Saturday afternoon, a Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Capricorn forms an opposition to the Moon in Cancer. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Cancer-Capricorn polarity deals with the balance between the private life, domesticity, the need for a home base, and nurturance (represented by Cancer) versus the public life, career, reputation, and accountability (represented by Capricorn).
Attachments and love are ruled by Cancer, while achievements and rewards/punishments are ruled by Capricorn. In some ways, this polarity deals with the balance between unconditional love and conditional love. The Cancer Moon encourages us to value our home base and our roots, while Capricorn persuades us to consider our sense of duty and responsibility along public lines.

The Sun is in Capricorn from December 21, 2025-January 19, 2026. While the Sun is in Capricorn, we are motivated by feelings of responsibility, ambition, and respect for law and order. Capricorn derives much satisfaction in completion and accomplishment. Standards, structures, and an appreciation for order are Capricorn themes.
Capricorn wants tangible results, knows what is feasible and what is not, and is most comfortable working within an established framework and known boundaries or limits. Working towards a long-term goal is most satisfying with this influence.
We take a conservative approach to most matters during this month-long transit. Taking risks or making impulsive moves doesn’t suit us. We move ahead gradually but steadily and prosper by playing the long game–patiently working toward our objectives and taking care of our future. Venus conjunct Sun. We are motivated by the desire to strike a balance in our relationships and in our environment. Smooth negotiations with others. Graciousness, diplomacy, charm, and some superficiality. This is a good period for social affairs, pleasure, amusement, and romance, all things considered.
Venus conjunct Mars. We’re ready to take the initiative to achieve harmony and sexual fulfillment. Social relations are impassioned and perhaps demanding or extreme. We may also feel compelled to do something creative or artistic. This impulsive energy can generate feelings of “love at first sight” or lead to erotic interludes, sudden purchases, and impulsive pleasure-seeking. It’s a time to balance and integrate yin and yang energies within ourselves. We get the chance to express our needs, passions, and desires effectively. Venus is diplomatic, gentle, romantic, and sensitive, while Mars is more direct, carnal, and assertive. Venus can soften Mars’ aggressiveness, or Mars can make Venus’ romantic impulses more forceful and pressing. Teamwork is more successful now. Some level of competition is present in our interactions, but it’s likely of a pleasurable and gently challenging kind.
Sun conjunct Mars. This is a vital, dynamic time when we thrive on progress and activity. Our more passionate, aggressive, and courageous natures come to the fore. We are able to creatively solve problems and to instinctively take action when necessary under this influence. Self-assertion is what this transit is about. We are direct and frank, and perhaps short-tempered and impulsive.
Venus opposition Jupiter. The love nature is strong, but given to extremes. Over-inflated expectations and the tendency to overstate our affections are things to watch out for. We may overvalue something (or someone), perhaps in order to add more drama to our lives, or to feel bigger than life. We are sociable, in the mood to party, dramatic, extravagant, and inclined to overindulge as a result of this inner discontent and desire for more from life than daily routines.
Mercury sesquiquadrate Uranus. We can have flashes of insight, but tend to be scatterbrained. Our ideas and communications may not be well-received because they don’t seem to others to carry weight. Our minds are not peaceful or harmonious under this influence, and irritable tempers, sarcastic speech, and dogmatism are negative expressions of this energy. However, fresh and creative ideas may come to us now.
Sun opposition Jupiter. Conflicting urges with regards to what we think we should do and what we want to do can be frustrating now. There can be a tendency to go overboard and to indulge in extravagances. Watch for overestimating your capabilities now. Culminations or surprising changes in a project or ambition might occur now. The urge to grow and expand is strong, but we might overreach.
Mars opposition Jupiter. Over-estimating what we are capable of doing characterizes this transit. What we want to do may conflict with what is actually possible. We may get fired up over opposing viewpoints, and we may need to adjust our plan of action. Errors in judgment made now are likely due to impulsiveness and the overlooking of crucial details.

With a creative aspect between Mercury and Uranus this morning, we prefer not to follow the crowd with our ideas and communications. We seek to stand out as different intellectually, or at least not sound like everyone else. This aspect inspires creative ways to approach technical matters.
As the day advances, both the Sun and Venus form quintiles with Saturn, bringing a responsible theme to the day. It’s a time to sort, categorize, and create order. There can be a willingness to make sacrifices if it seems the best way to make improvements. We’re inclined to maneuver and plan tastefully. We may be showcasing our reliability and loyalty. A Saturn-Vesta sextile is also in play today, and we feel good about our work, obligations, and commitments, which we see less as burdens and more as purposeful activities. Independent work is favored. With this transit, we are more disciplined and efficient than usual.

The Moon is in Leo all day, stirring our need to play, express ourselves, and create. We’re enthusiastic and take particular pride in our accomplishments. This Moon encourages our theatrical, playful, and competitive side. The Moon trine to Chiron tonight promotes healing and reconciliation. Because we’re not inclined to worry over details or rely too heavily on rationale, it’s easier to see the bigger picture. A Venus-Pluto parallel strongly influences the day as it advances, and we naturally connect with our deeper desires. We can be incredibly focused on pursuing our interests, especially in business and finance, or in love and partnership now. We seek more depth in our pursuits and connections.

Venus aligns with the Sun today, heralding a time to reach out, make connections, and initiate fresh starts in our relationships. This alignment symbolizes the potential for new beginnings and positive transformations in our interpersonal connections. We’re crystallizing the lessons we’ve recently learned through our focus on harmonizing and cooperating, and this newfound wisdom invigorates our relationships. We’re re-awakened to the beauty of life around us, and a surge of new energy revitalizes our close relationships. The desire to strike a balance in our relationships or environment is a powerful motivator now. We’re expressing more graciousness, diplomacy, and charm, showcasing our ability to harmonize and beautify our interactions. It can be a time to redefine what we want and need from our connections, relationships, and material affairs or goals.
Note that Venus aligns with the Sun today and with Mars tomorrow! It’s a highly creative or passionate time, when we might choose to create something special, entertain, enjoy an adventure, or otherwise pursue our joy. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
