A Full Moon occurs on Sunday, August 10th, 2014, at 2:09 PM EDT.

On Sunday afternoon, a Full Moon occurs when the Leo Sun opposes the Moon in Aquarius. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time--a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.

The Leo Sun is proud and intensely individual--not content with simply being just one of the team. The Aquarius Moon, while individualistic as well, values independence and the "team". The Full Moon illuminates this conflict.

When a Full Moon occurs, we can suddenly burst forth with proclamations and outpours that seem fresh and new, simply because they are not yet rationalized. In fact, a Full Moon illuminates feelings attitudes, and circumstances that are already in existence.

This Full Moon is supported by Uranus and challenged by Saturn. Adjusting our plans may be in order, and striking a balance between convention and innovation is the challenge. Setbacks tend to be temporary and often lead to new, more creative paths or solutions. Ambivalence is likely and could color many of our interactions. It can be challenging to make one particular decision and stick to it.

This phase of the Moon occurs at 18 degrees and 2 minutes of Aquarius opposite the Sun at 18 degrees and 2 minutes of Leo, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 15 to 21 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

(Times are Eastern)

The Sun is in Leo; Mercury is in Leo until August 15th, when it enters Virgo; Venus is in Cancer until August 12th, when it enters Leo; Mars is in Scorpio.

The Sun is in Leo from July 22-August 23. In Leo, the Sun is proud, outgoing, and playful. The Leo Sun is intensely individual—not content with simply being just one of the team. It's time to shine, add a touch of color and drama to our lives, and perform. Like the flowers and fruit of the season--blossoming and ripened--this is a time when we want to enjoy ourselves and express ourselves. We are more generous and grand in our gestures and attitudes. On the shadow side, we can also be self-centered and vain.

Mercury is in Leo from July 31-August 15. When Mercury is in Leo, our thinking is more confident and grand. The focus is now on the goal--and the more grand a goal the better! The details may not be quite as important now. We are more expressive, even theatrical and given to speech-giving and story-telling under this influence. We are also more convincing and persuasive, as we exude confidence when we speak or write. We may not listen as well as we normally do under Mercury in Leo.

Mercury is in Virgo from August 15-September 2. When Mercury is in Virgo, precision in speech, thought, and process are now important to us. This is a time when we analyze and decide what is useful and what we deem to be impractical. Mercury feels right at home in Virgo, one of the signs that it rules. Dealing with details is natural and easy now. We need to be careful that we don't lose perspective if we find ourselves lost in details. We should also be aware of the possibility of expressing ourselves in a too factual manner, so much so that we come across as dry, critical, or unimaginative.

Venus is in Cancer July 18-August 12. In Cancer, Venus is nurturing, protective and self-protective, cautious, and fertile. We experience many emotional ups and downs in love under this influence due to increased sensitivity and impressionability. We are tender, romantic, and attached. Cancer love is dedicated, warm, and devoted. We show our love through our devotion, care, and concern. We are affectionate and cuddly, and are at our best when we feel safe and secure.

Venus is in Leo August 12-September 5. Love is magnificent and grand. We take pride in love, and we are generous with our money as well. This is a warmhearted, teasing, expressive, proud, and extravagant placement for Venus. Love is a bit of a game--a game that is perpetual, as Venus in Leo is forever stuck in the romance stage of a relationship. We feed on attention, acknowledgement, validation, and adoration. Venus in Leo loves to be adored, pampered, and admired. Pride and passion are hallmarks of this cycle. We have a strong ego investment in our love lives during this period. The negative expression of this placement is overstating our feelings simply for the effect, as well as extravagance.

Mars is in Scorpio from July 25-September 13. In Scorpio, Mars is driven and focused on getting what it wants. We are persevering, single-minded, and strong. The desire to experience our emotional depths, as well as the urge to penetrate the surface of life in order to explore deeper levels of existence, is powerful. We are fascinated with what others tend to repress, and are drawn to experiencing and understanding these things. We are less inclined to avoid important issues now. In some ways, we are attracted to crisis, as we see crisis as transformative and emotionally exciting. We would rather feel extreme emotions than nothing at all, as mediocrity or the "middle road" is felt to be unsatisfying.

Saturn entered Scorpio on October 5, 2012 and will transit the sign until 2015. Read about Saturn's transit through Scorpio here.

Jupiter entered Leo on July 16th, where it will transit until August 11th, 2015. Read about Jupiter's transit through Leo here.

Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.

Romance & Relationships

Venus is in Cancer from July 18-August 12. We treat lovers with sympathy and tenderness, providing the emotional nurturing that they need. We tend to "play it safe" when it comes to relationships. Love and devotion is most important to us, and provides us with a sense of inner security. We seek a deep love in which we can merge souls and personalities with our lover. We are quite devoted to our partners, and we seek such devotion in return. However, we could also become possessive, manipulative, and stifling. Familiarity is more important to us now. Our fear of rejection is overdeveloped, and we offer our hearts cautiously as a result. We pay more attention to our lovers' feelings than their words. We feel threatened if a lover acts in an impersonal, overly independent, or detached manner. Safe and solid relationships are more appealing. Romantic and emotional hurts are very hard to forget.

Venus is in Leo from August 12-September 5. Negative expressions of this placement are overstating our feelings simply for the effect, as well as extravagance.

This week: Love feelings can be intense on Tuesday and Wednesday, but it can be difficult to get truly close, especially if we push. There can be some angst at this time.

Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:

Venus in Cancer July 18-August 12. Mothering (or being mothered), sympathy, a yearning to put down roots, and a fondness for things that have stood the test of time - these are some of the hallmarks of the phase that now begins in your life. Romantic and social experiences, as well as artistic tastes, will show evidence of these factors.
Venus in Leo August 12-September 5. Romance becomes an end in itself as a new cycle begins for you. It marks a time when love, creativity, and self-expression satisfy a deep yearning to be appreciated and admired - needed, even. A flashy, flirty, stylish splash of color and warmth.
Venus contraparallel Pluto August 12-13. Romantic intensity, a feeling of fatedness, possessiveness, fear of betrayal, and insecurity in relationships. Questions of trust can emerge in relationships. Looking for a commitment.
Venus sesquiquadrate Chiron
August 13. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
Venus quincunx Neptune August 17. Idealism and disappointments in love. Avoid becoming blinded by what you want to see, rather than what really is. Doubts about love.
Venus conjunct Jupiter August 17-18. We have large appetites for love and pleasure, and generosity of spirit as well. An excellent time (all things considered) to begin a new relationship, or renew an old/existing one.
Venus parallel Jupiter August 18-19. We are charitable with others and have a stronger desire than usual to find meaning in our relationships. There may be some overstating or overindulgence now, however.
Venus quincunx Pluto August 20-21. This is a time of adjustments and re-assessments in our close personal relationships and/or with regards to our social lives. Issues of power and control can arise. Unreasonable or irrational fears of loss, or jealousy, could also emerge.

The Moon & Timing

The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here, and is indicative of the "outcome" of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period, or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology). Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology.

The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:

Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, August 10th, from 6:13 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mercury), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Monday, August 11th, at 8:56 AM EDT.

VOC Moon on Tuesday, August 12th, from 12:02 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Saturn), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Wednesday, August 13th, at 9:01 AM EDT.

VOC Moon on Friday, August 15th, from 11:51 AM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mercury), until the Moon enters Taurus at 11:59 AM EDT.

This Week's Calendar

This Week's Aspects

VenussesquiquadrateChiron Venus sesquiquadrate Chiron. Blocks to intimacy are possible now as we focus on differences rather than similarities in our relationships with others. We might have a hard time learning from one another as a result.

MercurysesquiquadratePluto Mercury sesquiquadrate Pluto. "Suspicious minds" characterize this transit, although if we harness the energy, we can develop strategies to get to the bottom of any matter. Mistrust, investigations. Some level of mental stress and pressure. A troubled mind.

JupiterNeptune Jupiter quincunx Neptune. There can be difficulties with limits and boundaries now. We may feel disorganized and it can be difficult to stick to a routine, or to find satisfaction in our current pursuits. There can be a strong desire or need to help others now, but we may not know how to do so and feel guilty for escapist tendencies or for not being as effective as we'd like. There is a tendency to take the easy way out, but consequences are likely to be faced by doing so. We may be misled by wishful thinking now or invest in impractical ideas and plans.

sextile Mars sextile Pluto. We are able to successfully focus on our goals, to take decisive action, and to go after what we want without stepping on others' toes under this influence.

MercurySesquiquadrateUranus Mercury sesquiquadrate Uranus. We can have flashes of insight, but tend to be scatterbrained. Our ideas and communications may not be well-received because they don't seem to others to carry weight. Our minds are not peaceful or harmonious under this influence, and irritable tempers, sarcastic speech, and dogmatism are negative expressions of this energy. However, fresh and creative ideas may come to us now.

What's In Store By the Stars - Daily Astrology Trends

(as featured on our site's main page and in our Daily Trends Calendar)

AUGUST 10
The Moon is in Aquarius all day, and is full at 2:10 PM EDT. A Full Moon occurs with the Leo Sun opposing the Moon in Aquarius. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon.

A void of course Moon occurs from 6:13 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mercury), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Monday, August 11th, at 8:56 AM EDT.

AUGUST 11
The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius until 8:56 AM EDT, when it enters Pisces. With a Pisces Moon, we are not as quick to make decisions or commitments, preferring to feel our way through life, and we can be more sensitive and idealistic than usual. We may be reflecting about recent events and paying more attention to spiritual concerns and needs than material ones. Soothing activities are important now. There can be an increased need or desire to release emotional pressure or vision through creative or physical means, such as through dance or other creative arts.

The Moon ends its void period at 8:56 AM EDT, when the Moon enters Pisces.

AUGUST 12
The Moon is in dreamy, sensitive, and strong Pisces all day, and we're inclined to look to the past in preparation for the future. Venus enters Leo today, where it will transit until September 5th. We take more pride in love, money, and entertainment during this cycle. We are generous and at times extravagant. We may want to make a splash when it comes to expressing our affection and approval, and also our own personal style. We feed on attention, acknowledgement, validation, and adoration in our relationships. We have a stronger ego investment and involvement in our love lives during this period. The negative expression of this placement is overstating our feelings simply for the effect, as well as melodrama when it comes to romance.

A void of course Moon occurs from 12:02 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Saturn), until the Moon enters Aries tomorrow, Wednesday, August 13th, at 9:01 AM EDT.

AUGUST 13
The Moon continues its transit of Pisces until 9:01 AM EDT, when it enters enterprising, impulsive Aries. With the Sun, Mercury, and Saturn aligning in declination today, there can be a focus on seeking or clarifying information, serious talks, and structuring our lives in some significant manner. Venus in challenging aspect to Chiron this morning can stimulate us to recognize differences in our approaches to relating. Mercury in hard aspect to Pluto adds more pressure to the desire/need to get to the bottom of things, or to the truth.

The Moon ends its void period at 9:01 AM EDT, when the Moon enters Aries.

AUGUST 14
The Moon is in Aries all day, aligning with Uranus midday and in trine with the Leo Sun tonight, and stimulating an enterprising, outgoing, and positive approach to the day. However, a longer-term aspect influencing the day is a quincunx between Jupiter and Neptune. There can be difficulties with limits and boundaries, and we could be feeling disorganized, satisfied with current projects, or lacking in direction.

AUGUST 15
Jupiter is quincunx Neptune shortly into the day (discussed yesterday). This morning, Mars sextile Pluto can bring a stronger ability to focus, despite the distracting influence of Jupiter-Neptune. It's more natural to go after our goals and satisfy our desires under this influence. We're better at strategy now. Mercury enters Virgo today, where it will transit until September 2nd. The Moon continues to transit Aries until 11:51 AM EDT, when it enters Taurus.

A void of course Moon occurs from 11:51 AM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mercury), until the Moon enters Taurus at 11:59 AM EDT.

AUGUST 16
Mercury sesquiquadrate Uranus this morning can stimulate quick, progressive thinking, but possibly some scattered thinking or nervous tension. The Moon is in Taurus all day, however, and the most emotional satisfaction comes from soothing, comforting, predictable, or familiar activities. The Moon opposes Mars and then Saturn today, suggesting that events, people, and circumstances tend to pull us out of our comfort zone.

Moon Signs This Week:

When the Moon is in Aquarius

MoonAquarius Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.

The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.

When the Moon is in Pisces

MoonPiscesWe are not inclined to want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.

The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.

When the Moon is in Aries

MoonAriesWe're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to start something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.

The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.

When the Moon is in Taurus

MoonTaurusWe are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses". Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.

The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.

This Week's Planetary Positions By Sign (General Trends):

Sun in Leo "This I do for me" is your motto at a time like this. This is your time to shine, like a swirl of starstuff that has finally reached critical mass and suddenly starts to give off more light than it receives. Issues of pride, mastery, and appreciation become more and more central to your lifestream as this cycle progresses, as does a very important lesson: it's not what you do so much as how you do it, not who you are so much as how you make others feel about themselves. If it doesn't come from the heart, it shouldn't matter now.

Mercury in Leo The hallmark of the cycle you have just begun is thinking, learning and communicating with style. Intellectual creativity is highlighted, and your social connections have a certain flair of drama to them. Winning the admiration of others for the things you say or write (and the way you do it) takes on more importance in your life.

Mercury in Virgo Mental discipline and patience are keynoted as you enter into a new cycle. Thinking things through, accounting for all the details, making careful measurements: these and similar experiences keep your mind active and involved. An interest in health and work may come to the fore.

Venus in Cancer Mothering (or being mothered), sympathy, a yearning to put down roots, and a fondness for things that have stood the test of time - these are some of the hallmarks of the phase that now begins in your life. Romantic and social experiences, as well as artistic tastes, will show evidence of these factors.

Venus in Leo Romance becomes an end in itself as a new cycle begins for you. It marks a time when love, creativity, and self-expression satisfy a deep yearning to be appreciated and admired - needed, even. A flashy, flirty, stylish splash of color and warmth.

Mars in Scorpio Tear it down and build it up again, reach in and pluck out the offending element: that's what the new cycle you have entered is like. Power becomes a compelling idea, perhaps even an aphrodisiac - and you've got a stronger than usual supply of it now. Use it, don't abuse it - or you might find that it's a two-edged sword!

Jupiter in Leo High drama, big romance, a creative bonanza: this is the stuff dreams are made of now. The world is your stage, the spotlight is your goal, and the love and appreciation of others is the air you breathe. Children, lovers, admirers: these are the people who figure large in your life as this cycle progresses. A willingness to gamble on the future.

Saturn in Scorpio This new cycle signals a need to recognize that there are powers beyond your control, that things are not what they seem on the surface. Trying to stay in control and on top only sets you up for a fall. There is a need for the resources of others. Failure to recognize this and deal with it can stop you in your tracks.

Uranus in Aries
A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart.

Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver's seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?

Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable - and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small, but has bigger consequences than you'd think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place...
