A FULL Moon occurs on Monday, September 8, 2014, at 9:38 PM EDT.

On Monday, a Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Virgo opposes the Pisces Moon.

The Virgo-Pisces polarity is the service axis, and it deals with the balance between day-to-day functions and routines, physical health, and the need for order (Virgo) and vision, spiritual health, disorder, and the infinite (Pisces). Virgo rules our personal set of tools and techniques that we use to deal with day-to-day life, while Pisces rules our tools that we use to deal with our spirituality. The key to balance lies in identifying and expressing our spiritual needs, while maintaining order in our everyday lives. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire--we would either be living in chaos or in excessive order.

The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time--a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.

This phase of the Moon occurs at 16 degrees and 19 minutes of Pisces opposite the Sun at 16 degrees and 19 minutes of Virgo, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 13 to 19 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

(Times are Eastern)

The Sun is in Virgo; Mercury is in Libra; Venus is in Virgo; Mars is in Scorpio until the 13th, when Mars enters Sagittarius.

The Sun is in Virgo from August 23-September 22. Our focus shifts to the pieces of the puzzle--the little details of our lives. It is now time to take care of practical concerns. Tending to the details of everyday life may not sound like loads of fun, but it can certainly free us from unnecessary stress that results from "collecting" odds and ends of unfinished business. This is an ideal time to get organized, to do detail work, and to improve communications on the job.

Mercury is in Libra from September 2-27. When Mercury is in Libra, we are diplomatic and friendly. During this cycle, we are able to bring a more rational approach to one-to-one relationships. It's a good time to think about ways of improving our negotiation skills. In an attempt to see both sides of any given situation, Mercury in Libra can be a vacillating energy. It can be more challenging than usual to make quick decisions, as we can sit "on the fence". We may too easily accommodate others' opinions in order to keep the peace. In our negotiations, we don't want to assert ourselves in such a way as to appear to be the "bad guy". However, this is a good period for considering others' points of view. We are more inclined to arrive at fair conclusions.

Venus is in Virgo September 5-29. This is a time when we express our love through practical means and gestures--running errands, doing detail work, or just being there for our lovers. Love needs to make sense and have a purpose with Venus in Virgo. Virgo is an Earth sign, which is sensual but also quite practical. Besides our romantic natures, what we decide to buy and the types of entertainment we enjoy during this cycle is ruled by whether or not things make sense. We could easily feel guilty if we are too self-indulgent at this time. Rendering services to others can fill a need, and can be an expression of love. The shadow side of this position is being overly critical of our partners, picky, or worrisome.

Mars is in Scorpio from July 25-September 13. In Scorpio, Mars is driven and focused on getting what it wants. We are persevering, single-minded, and strong. The desire to experience our emotional depths, as well as the urge to penetrate the surface of life in order to explore deeper levels of existence, is powerful. We are fascinated with what others tend to repress, and are drawn to experiencing and understanding these things. We are less inclined to avoid important issues now. In some ways, we are attracted to crisis, as we see crisis as transformative and emotionally exciting. We would rather feel extreme emotions than nothing at all, as mediocrity or the "middle road" is felt to be unsatisfying.

Mars is in Sagittarius from September 13-October 26. With a Sagittarius Mars, our actions are motivated by our ideals. We are bothered by routine, quickly becoming restless if we feel confined. We have a love of adventure, and of conquest--this is the position of wanderlust. We start projects or challenges with gusto, although we may tend to abandon them rather quickly. This may be because we set our sights too high!

Saturn entered Scorpio on October 5, 2012 and will transit the sign until 2015. Read about Saturn's transit through Scorpio here.

Jupiter entered Leo on July 16th, where it will transit until August 11th, 2015. Read about Jupiter's transit through Leo here.

Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.

Romance & Relationships

Venus is in Virgo from September 5-29. This is a time when we express our love through practical means and gestures--running errands, doing detail work, or just "being there" for our lovers. Essentially, we fuss over our partners, sometimes a little too much! Our availability and accessibility is a sign of love. Love needs to make sense and have a purpose with Venus in Virgo. Virgo is an Earth sign, which is sensual but also quite practical. We could easily feel guilty if we are too self-indulgent during this cycle. We can be a little shy and prone to worry. We pick up on many different cues, attempting to analyze every detail of our lovers' reactions and responses. We could worry ourselves sick agonizing over details! In the process, we can miss out on the bigger and perhaps more meaningful cues. As well, Virgo is a sign that can live very much in the mind in the middle of an experience, failing to enjoy the moment. Self-consciousness can get in the way of enjoyment. Rendering services to others can fill a need, and can be an expression of love. The shadow side of this position is being overly critical of our partners, picky, or worrisome.

This week: Venus opposes Neptune this week on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing a possible illusion to light. There may be deceptions, or we could be holding onto false ideas about a relationship. A lack of clarity can also come from our love lives in general - we don't know where we stand. We may be feeling emotionally (and sometimes financially) drained by a relationship or partner. Uncertainties about existing love can also crop up now.

Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:

Venus in Virgo September 5-29. If it makes sense you love it, and if it doesn't you feel guilty about it: that's what it's like now. A loving attention to details and a sense of satisfaction in doing what is right (especially with respect to your health) are some of the qualities that come to the fore at a time like this.
Venus sesquiquadrature Uranus September 5-6. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness. A desire to experiment in the romance department may be fleeting and ultimately unsatisfying or frustrating.
Venus opposition Neptune September 9-10. Not a good time to start a new relationship, which could be characterized by disappointments, and the tendency to feel emotionally (and sometimes financially) drained by the partner. Uncertainties about existing love.
Venus trine Pluto September 14. Powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions. Relationships are intense and deep, but not draining.

The Moon & Timing

The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here, and is indicative of the "outcome" of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period, or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology). Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology.

The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:

Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, September 7th, from 1:20 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Pisces at 7:48 PM EDT.

VOC Moon on Tuesday, September 9th, from 3:10 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Aries at 7:34 PM EDT.

VOC Moon on Wednesday, September 10th, from 8:59 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Uranus), until the Moon enters Taurus the next day, Thursday, September 11th, at 9:17 PM EDT.

VOC Moon on Saturday, September 13th, from 9:32 AM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to the Sun), until the Moon enters Gemini the next day, Sunday, September 14th, at 2:27 AM EDT.

This Week's Calendar

This Week's Aspects

Mars semi-square Pluto. Our desires are intense and difficult to satisfy under this influence. A tendency to bully and confront may dominate. Efforts to make changes could be thwarted, or power struggles emerge. The trick is to remain flexible and to develop strategies for achieving our goals.

SunoppositionChiron Sun opposition Chiron. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong, but may be hampered by a lack of confidence or a fear of being different. We may not be seeing eye to eye with others, and lack of faith in our own decisions is likely as well. We might also be so concerned with keeping others happy that we are afraid to assert our own desires.

SunQuincunxUranus Sun quincunx Uranus. Surprise elements make us feel out of control of our lives or the direction we would like to take. Disrupted plans or schedules. Unexpected events or change of plans.

MercurysquarePluto Mercury square Pluto. The tendency to read between the lines with a negative slant is strong during this transit, and can easily stir up trouble. Suspiciousness, making mountains out of molehills, telling others only what we want them to know are possible themes. Mental anxiety or troubles could manifest now. We should try to avoid forcing our ideas on others and strive to maintain an open mind. Compulsive thinking is possible. On the other hand, this influence can suggest the ability to engage in deep, penetrating communication.

Venus opposition Neptune. Problems with love or money matters crop up because of our lack of the ability to discriminate at this time. It's easy to see what we want to see, rather than what actually is. We may be more vulnerable emotionally, and thus more susceptible to deceit or self-deceit. Romantic and idealistic imagination is aroused now, and we may be especially put off by anything vulgar or harsh. If possible, put off major decision making regarding social and romantic involvements, as well as finances.

MercurySextileJupiter Mercury sextile Jupiter. Positive thinking, new insights, and cooperation are themes now. This influence favors short trips, writing, teaching, studying, submitting applications and forms, test taking, and making diagnoses and observations. This is a time when we more readily exercise good judgment, take a more philosophical approach to thinking, and are more open to learning.

SunsextileSaturn Sun sextile Saturn. We feel grounded and stable. It's easy to stick to a specific task and make headway. Productivity may be slow, but it's steady. We are taking into account practical considerations and we are especially aware of the element of time. We are more able to discipline ourselves and put our egos aside in order to get the job done.

MercuryMars Mercury semi-square Mars. We are quick-witted and ready to argue under this influence. We may be working under stressful or hectic conditions, as we feel pressure to get things done quickly. We are inclined to be snappy and irritable, and we may too easily interrupt others rather than listen. Conflicts of interest are likely.

MercuryChiron Mercury quincunx Chiron. Decisions can be hard to come by under this influence, as we tend to doubt our perceptions or the effectiveness of our ability to solve problems. It can be hard to read the intention behind the words used to communicate now, which can lead to misunderstandings.

Mercury opposition Uranus. Mercury opposition Uranus. We are distracted. Our communications get lost, are interrupted, or are misunderstood. Disagreements with others are quite possible. It's not a good time to present an argument or an important idea.

What's In Store By the Stars - Daily Astrology Trends

(as featured on our site's main page and in our Daily Trends Calendar)

SEPTEMBER 7
The Moon is in Aquarius much of the day, until 7:48 PM EDT when it enters Pisces. Mars is semi-square Pluto, and these bodies are also contraparallel. This stimulates some of our more intense and possibly darker desires and impulses, and there can be difficulty satisfying them, whether it's because we deny ourselves, we try too hard, or because they're too complicated to fulfill. Efforts to make changes could be thwarted, or power struggles emerge. The trick is to remain flexible and to develop strategies for achieving our goals, rather than pushing. Later today, the Sun opposes Chiron, and there can be struggles with whether or not to follow a particular path. We could have a hard time asserting our desires if they conflict with others' desires. There can be a lack of faith or self-consciousness that prevents us from standing up for ourselves. A person or circumstance can be exposing our vulnerabilities, and this can be a learning experience, ultimately.

A void of course Moon occurs from 1:20 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Pisces at 7:48 PM EDT.

SEPTEMBER  8
The Sun quincunx Uranus is exact early morning, and we may find it difficult to honor our needs for change without feeling guilty or neglecting another important need. There can be disrupted plans that become an issue now. The Moon is in Pisces all day, and is Full at 9:38 PM EDT. Occurring along the Virgo-Pisces service axis, this Full Moon is about the balance between day-to-day functions and routines, physical health, and the need for order (Virgo) and vision, spiritual health, disorder, and the infinite (Pisces). It is an emotional time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.

SEPTEMBER 9
The Moon is in Pisces until 7:34 PM EDT, when it enters Aries. Mercury squares Pluto today, and there can be tense or difficult communications. The tendency to read between the lines with a negative slant is strong during this transit, and can easily stir up trouble. Suspiciousness, making mountains out of molehills, and selective communication are possible themes. We can become obsessed with getting our message across and for others to agree with our ideas. Mental anxiety or troubles could manifest now. We should try to avoid forcing our ideas on others and strive to maintain an open mind. Compulsive thinking is possible. On the other hand, this influence can suggest the ability to engage in deep, penetrating communication.

A void of course Moon occurs from 3:10 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Aries at 7:34 PM EDT.

SEPTEMBER 10
The Moon is in direct, assertive Aries all day, but this morning, there is indirect, confusing energy with us as Venus opposes Neptune. Problems with love or money matters crop up because of our lack of the ability to discriminate at this time. It's easy to see what we want to see, rather than what actually is. We may be more vulnerable emotionally, and thus more susceptible to deceit or self-deceit. Romantic, idealistic imagination is aroused now, and we may be especially put off by anything vulgar or harsh. If possible, put off major decision making regarding social and romantic involvements, as well as finances. However, as the day progresses, a sextile between Mercury and Jupiter stimulates positive thinking and cooperation. This is a time when we quite readily exercise good judgment, take a more philosophical approach to thinking, and are especially open to learning.

A void of course Moon occurs from 8:59 PM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Uranus), until the Moon enters Taurus tomorrow, Thursday, September 11th, at 9:17 PM EDT.

SEPTEMBER 11
The Moon is in Aries most of the day, until 9:17 PM EDT, when it enters Taurus. A sextile between the Virgo Sun and Saturn in Scorpio is a productive one. Our powers of discrimination are strong, and especially when it comes to deciding where improvements can be made. We tend to feel more grounded and stable and benefit from earthy activities that reinforce the importance of the here and now. It's easier than usual to stick to a specific task and make headway. Productivity may be slow, but it's steady. We are taking into account practical considerations and we are especially aware of the element of time. We are more able to discipline ourselves and put our egos aside in order to get the job done. This evening, we should watch for hasty or aggressive communications and impatience with Mercury semi-square Mars.

The void period of the Moon ends at 9:17 PM EDT, when the Moon enters Taurus.

SEPTEMBER 12
The Moon is in steady Taurus all day, harmonizing with Neptune, Venus, and Pluto. It's a good time for enjoying outings, music, the arts, and gatherings. It's good for money as well, but we could be just as inclined to spend it. Late today, Mercury is quincunx Chiron and moving towards an opposition to Uranus. It can be hard to read the intention behind the words used to communicate now, which can lead to misunderstandings. It's too easy to become distracted, but we might learn through others' opposition to our ideas now.

SEPTEMBER 13
Mercury opposes Uranus shortly into the day, and we can be a little confrontational or rebellious in our communications. Disagreements with others are quite possible. It's not a good time to present an argument or an important idea, but the friction stimulated now can challenge us to learn more about our minds and opinions. The Moon is in steady Taurus all day, encouraging us to take the time to enjoy what we already have. However, with Mars entering adventurous Sagittarius today, some restlessness can be stimulated. Mars will transit Sagittarius until October 26th, and during this cycle, our actions are often strongly motivated by our ideals. We are bothered by routine, quickly becoming restless if we feel confined. We have a love of adventure, and of conquest. We start projects or challenges with gusto, although we might abandon them rather quickly if we see new possibilities. There is some tendency to excess and overestimation of what we're capable of doing.

A void of course Moon occurs from 9:32 AM EDT, with the Moon's last aspect before changing signs (a trine to the Sun), until the Moon enters Gemini tomorrow, Sunday, September 14th, at 2:27 AM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:

When the Moon is in Aquarius

MoonAquarius Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.

The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.

When the Moon is in Pisces

MoonPiscesWe are not inclined to want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.

The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.

When the Moon is in Aries

MoonAriesWe're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to start something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.

The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.

When the Moon is in Taurus

MoonTaurusWe are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses". Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.

The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.

This Week's Planetary Positions By Sign (General Trends):

Sun in Virgo You're coming into a new cycle centered on taking what you know and what you've got and then making the most of it in the real world. Assimilating information and experience, learning lessons and putting them into practice - that's the focus as this cycle unfolds. It's a time for prudence and stewardship, a time to tend to the details. You probably already have the grand ideals and visions: now you must get your hands dirty with the bricks and mortar and your mind busy with putting it all together.

Mercury in Libra A new cycle begins for you, signaling a greater than usual interest in relationships, social connections, and the arts - on a more intellectual level than in the past, most likely. Seeing both sides of an issue, and figuring out resolutions to opposing views: these things take on more importance in your life.

Venus in Virgo If it makes sense you love it, and if it doesn't you feel guilty about it: that's what it's like now. A loving attention to details and a sense of satisfaction in doing what is right (especially with respect to your health) are some of the qualities that come to the fore at a time like this.

Mars in Scorpio Tear it down and build it up again, reach in and pluck out the offending element: that's what the new cycle you have entered is like. Power becomes a compelling idea, perhaps even an aphrodisiac - and you've got a stronger than usual supply of it now. Use it, don't abuse it - or you might find that it's a two-edged sword!

Mars in Sagittarius Ideology is a keynote of the new phase you have begun - the power of ideas and the power they wield over people. Religious, cultural, or philosophical controversies and crusades have a way of stirring your blood. Travel and adventure are compelling temptations as you dare to test your mettle and stretch your horizons.

Jupiter in Leo High drama, big romance, a creative bonanza: this is the stuff dreams are made of now. The world is your stage, the spotlight is your goal, and the love and appreciation of others is the air you breathe. Children, lovers, admirers: these are the people who figure large in your life as this cycle progresses. A willingness to gamble on the future.

Saturn in Scorpio This new cycle signals a need to recognize that there are powers beyond your control, that things are not what they seem on the surface. Trying to stay in control and on top only sets you up for a fall. There is a need for the resources of others. Failure to recognize this and deal with it can stop you in your tracks.

Uranus in Aries
A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart.

Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver's seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?

Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable - and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small, but has bigger consequences than you'd think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place...
