Although not quite as
popular as Sun sign astrology, "Mercury Retrograde" has certainly
become a buzzword--or buzz phrase--these days.
What is Mercury
Retrograde? Three, and sometimes four, times a year, the planet
Mercury appears to be moving backwards in the sky for a period of
approximately 3 weeks. "Appears" is the key word here, because,
technically speaking, no planet actually moves backwards in their
orbits around the Sun. In fact, they don't even slow down.
Retrograde-station-direct cycles are essentially illusions that
result from our point of view from Earth, simply because the Earth
is also orbiting the Sun at a different speed than the other
planets. Mercury turns retrograde more frequently than any other
planet. It can never be more than 28 degrees from the Sun, and
whenever it reaches its furthest distance from the Sun, it changes
direction.
As the planet of communication, Mercury retrograde tends to breed a certain
level of confusion. Mercury rules our "lower" mindhow we
perceive and interpret information that we receive from our environment, and how
we relay that information to others. Mercury has rulership over such things as
speaking, negotiating, buying and selling, listening, formal contracts,
documents, travel, the mail and shipping, and so forth. All of these areas of
life are affected when Mercury is functioning in a sluggish state.
Decision-making is challenged during Mercury retrograde. Needless to say, it is
not advised to sign contracts, engage in important decision-making, or launch a
new business. Delays and challenges are more probable with Mercury retrograde.
This period is best used for re-organizing and reflecting.
During these periods, it's best to check and double-check your
work, emails, and paperwork. Watch what you say, because it may
not come out, or be received, the way you intended. Try to be
understanding if you receive remarks that don't go over well.
Double-check that the person who uttered those words really meant
it the way you thought they did! Asking "are you sure you meant to
say that?" might help. Get in touch with yourself during this
period--it's an excellent cycle for discovering new ways of
looking at life and at yourself. It's also an ideal cycle in which
to discover new ways of communicating your ideas and thoughts.

Venus Retrograde in 2010
What is Venus
Retrograde? Occasionally, Venus appears to be moving backwards in the sky.
"Appears" is the key word here, because, technically speaking, no
planet actually moves backwards in their orbits around the Sun. In
fact, they don't even slow down. Retrograde-station-direct cycles
are essentially illusions that result from our point of view from
Earth, simply because the Earth is also orbiting the Sun at a
different speed than the other planets. Venus is Retrograde
approximately 40-43 days every 18 months.
As the planet of love and values, Venus retrograde periods are times when we
re-assess what--and who--we value. It is a period that most astrologers consider
inopportune for getting married or starting a new relationship. Financial
undertakings are not advised during this period as well. There may be delays or
confusion in relationships and financial affairs.

What is Mars
Retrograde? Occasionally, Mars appears to be moving backwards in the sky.
Mars is Retrograde
approximately 58-81 days every 2+ years.
When Mars is in its retrograde cycle, we are forced
to re-assess our current projects, our approach to getting what we want, and our
desire nature. Rather than directly asserting our desires, we tend towards
introspection. While Mars in direct motion is direct, straightforward,
assertive, and aggressive, with Mars in retrograde motion, Mars energy is
essentially turned inward--it's internalized, intensified, personalized, and
perhaps pressurized. We can be hesitant about taking action, second-guessing our
instincts or our natural impulses rather than acting upon them. The way we react
to situations under normal conditions doesn't necessarily work for us now, or we
don't exactly trust it... Read more about Mars Retrograde cycles

The coming year is likely to see people going out on a hunch and
staking their gains on intuitive calls that may easily founder or, if on the
mark, race to a new level. It's all about listening to that still, small voice -
and about quieting the noise enough to hear it. If you're a hard-nosed realist,
this could drive you crazy - but it's in the air, so why not share?
31 Jan Saturn square Pluto 05:29 pm EST Tran-Tran
04 Libra 21'Rx
This period of a year or so marks a somewhat troubled time for
society at large, during which political and economic struggles arise and engage
in conflicts that don't actually seem to get anywhere but take up a lot of news
time. Unless you're part of the news, chances are this doesn't hurt you
directly, but it does sow a certain unease all around that makes people more
uncertain than usual about committing to long-range agreements. When the wind is
shifting, everyone waits until it's changed before settling down to business.
With that in mind, you may find you can make more headway in smaller affairs and
short-term commitments, personal or financial, pending further advisories.

This is an excellent time for whipping up great faith in
whatever new trip you are onto, regardless of its apparent merits. Faith is the
operant word here, for if you instill enough of it yourself and inspire enough
of it in others, you can succeed where you probably wouldn't or shouldn't
otherwise. Basically, your personal or financial success (it can be either) can
hang on your ability to generate a deep feeling of trust and the inevitability
of what you believe to be the right course. That's what people are looking for
right now. If you can make your belief theirs, then you can take a ride together
and you won't have to sell anymore. And when you pull together with the abiding
knowledge of success, it's a lot more likely to happen.
The devil is about to be in the details for the next couple of
years, and those who haven't been picking up every stitch will find themselves
tailored for a tumble. That especially goes for control freaks who aren't, in
fact, in control and will be done in by their own rules. Those who have been
attending their chores without fanfare, however, will find their ships come in.
This rare (once in 45 years) aspect provides a background of a
year or so when new advances in theoretical science occur which take a longtime
proving, thanks to an often-intransigent scientific establishment. Relativity
theory and chaos theory are two good examples; both took years to become
thoroughly accepted and a part of the general consciousness. If you happen to
know what they are, it probably profits you little, except you can tell your
children you were there first, when they finally get hip to it. Nevertheless,
it's worth looking around for, as the foundations for another wave of the future
are being laid at this very time, no small thing.
23 May Jupiter opposition Saturn 01:39 am EDT Tran-Tran
27 Pisces 53'
This generational aspect, which happens only once every 20
years, marks a major social and economic struggle between the new and the old,
the traditional and the radical, in which both sides spar and harden against
each other. It is very much a time to choose one and leave the other behind in
relation to the larger part -- all play in the big picture. Prejudices increase,
along with paranoia and general fear of the unknown, leading many to cling to
false idols and defend or advance them dangerously. Where you can find movement
that leads both to what is right and also profitable, there you will become
elevated above the fray.
Discoveries are made by forcing the issue increasingly over the
next seven years. Breaks and discontinuities seem to come from out of the blue,
even though they have been gestating for some time. Belief systems around you
change radically at sudden shear points, revealing the obvious only after the
fact, leaving the most aggressive in charge.

The coming year witnesses a shoot-now-ask-questions-later
approach to new developments all around, in which the tendency is to jump onto
new bandwagons before you check to see if they have wheels. There's a feeling of
racing ahead into the future, but to where, really? Catch the tide, but keep
your eyes open, ask questions.
08 Jun Jupiter conjunct Uranus 07:23 am EDT Tran-Tran
00 Aries 18'
There is a 14-year rhythm of discovery which is now at its peak
for the world in general, a time when big new ideas blossom forth into existence
and are there for the picking. It's generally a time when risk-taking pays off
if you really believe in what you're into, personally or financially. It is a
real test of talents, however, because everybody's in the same boat, rising on
the same tide. It's what you see in it and how you use it right now that counts.
It's a good time for starting new projects, bursting into new personal affairs,
exploding onto a scene you never knew existed a year ago. Only remember that
time passes quickly, so lay down roots fast, make a strong foundation with
dispatch.

The next couple of years will likely see a renewal of blind
justice with her sword. Those who have spent their time handing out self-made
dictums of right and wrong will find themselves hoisted on their own petards,
while the meek inherit their earth. If you've been minding your own business,
tending to your tasks, you're safe and in line for a promotion.

In the enthusiasm for a new cause or idea you can sometimes back
it up with a little too much or ill-placed force and break the very thing that
you want to sustain. Or, you can overestimate the effectiveness and reach of
your powers and wind up going "a bridge too far." There is a general climate
right now for making that judgment error, and once you have made it, there
usually is no going back. You may equally find yourself the recipient of this
kind of pressure, and should you see it happening, don't fight it and have it go
to its logical hurtful conclusion, but don't give in, either. Just make yourself
scarce until the situation blows over. In the survival game, the fittest often
know to flee.
